Starting from the Zanser Alm car park I hiked along the Tschantschenon brook at the foot of the Geisler peaks where the Adolf-Munkel Weg, one of the most beautiful high-altitude trails in the Dolomites, begins. It runs along the north face, gently rising and falling through light and airy Swiss stone pine forests. A fork then led me to the Gschnagenhardt Alm.
"The summer months that I spent with my family over many years on the Gschnagenhardt Alm are among my very best childhood memories… My world, my mountains, were here. Even today, this little corner of the earth is still my favourite place in the Dolomites." (Reinhold Messner – Mein Weg (My Way)
