The “Respect the mountain” project
The topics of potable water and waste are the main focuses of the “Respect the mountain” project. Did you know that our tap water is high-quality drinking water? But water, including our drinking water, is a rare and precious commodity. “Respect the mountain” aims to raise awareness about the high quality of our potable tap water and teaches how to use it carefully and respectfully. By supporting this project, you not only enjoy water of the highest quality, but you also make a contribution to waste prevention. Our mountain scenery is a delicate ecosystem. Therefore, it is extremely important not to leave any rubbish behind. Because as you know: The best waste is the kind that is not produced at all!
Safety in the mountains
Hiking and mountaineering out in nature is the ideal tonic for body and soul. However, you must exercise caution at all times when up in the mountains.
These 10 recommendations from the South Tyrol Alpine Club are perfect for safely enjoying your hike or mountain tour!
All those who feel unsafe in the mountains should consult a professional mountain or hiking guide.

Before the bridge, turn right and follow the Adolf Munkel Trail, no. 35. This trail leads you to Broglesalm hut (2,045m) and from there, you follow trail no. 28 that descends to Ranui car park.

Intact forests, meadows in full bloom, and a game reserve at the foot of the needle-like Odle/Geisler peaks. The Zannes/Zans Nature Experience Trail is the first wheelchair-accessible trail and aims to bring visitors closer to the unique natural and cultural landscapes of the Puez-Odle/Puez-Geisler Nature Park. It is a beautiful circular path, which is equipped with panels that provide information about the genesis and the natural features of the area.
From Zannes/Zans car park, the trail leads through Piuswiese meadow to a game reserve, past a lime kiln, to Kelderer Wiese hut and the forester’s house, and back to the car park. The maximum incline is 8%, and there are several rest areas along the trail. The names of the various stations – “Please-touch mountains” and “Nature’s concert hall” being just two examples – reflect the type of information available at each stop. The stations also provide information concerning the park’s flora and fauna, and about how humans have affected the landscape of Funes/Villnöss valley. The wood sculptures at some of the trail’s stations were created by handicapped artisans at “Der Kirschbaum” workshop in Bolzano. The St. Raphael Centre for the Blind in Bolzano translated the texts into Braille.
Zannes/Zans Nature Experience Trail is particularly suitable for older people, families with children, and the disabled.
